Quits — Terms of Use
Quits splits bills and expenses in a group. It is made by Luxxat Labs, IP, a sole proprietor registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan. These terms are the agreement between you and us. We have kept them short and in plain English.
By using Quits you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
1. What Quits does
You make a group, add the people in it, and add expenses. Quits splits them equally, unequally, by shares or by percent, handles more than one currency, and works out the balances and the shortest set of payments that settles everyone up. It works offline and syncs when you are back online.
Quits does not move money. It has no bank connection and no payment rails. It records what people type and tells you who should pay whom. You pay each other however you normally do, outside the app. Checking that the numbers are right is your job, not ours.
2. No account
You do not make an account. Your phone gets an anonymous identity, and you join a group with a code, a link or a QR code. When you join you pick which member you are. Friends who do not have the app exist as members you add yourself, and they still get a balance.
Signing in with Apple or Google is optional. It only links the same anonymous identity to more than one device, so you can restore your groups on a new phone. It is never required.
3. Free core, and one purchase that never repeats
The core of Quits is free and unlimited, forever: groups, members, expenses, the splits, more than one currency, balances, settle-up, offline sync, sharing the settle-up plan as text, and the read-only web page. There are no daily limits and no ads.
Pro is one payment of US$4.99 (or the price your store shows in your currency) for the whole app. It is not a subscription. Nothing renews, and nothing expires. You buy it once and you have it for good. Every group you are in becomes a Pro group for every member of that group, now and in the future, and a new group never costs again.
Pro today gives you the Trip Report as a PDF or an image, automatic currency rates, a trip budget with stats, and CSV export of a group. A JSON export of every group stays free forever, so your data is never held hostage.
You buy Pro through Apple's App Store or Google Play, so their billing and refund rules apply to that payment. We only check the receipt and unlock the features.
4. The invite link and the web page
Every group has an invite link. If the person opening it has the app, it opens the app. If not, the link opens a read-only web page that shows that group: the balances, who pays whom, and the list of expenses. No account and no install.
Anyone holding the link can see the group. Treat the link the way you would treat the group itself.
A link holder can do one thing besides look: pick which member they are and mark a debt as paid. That creates a claimed payment. It never confirms itself. The person who is owed confirms it in the app, and can dispute it instead. If the claim is still untouched after three days, one reminder is sent.
Any member can reset the invite link in group settings. The old link, code and QR stop working straight away, and everybody already in the group stays in it.
5. The Suggestions board and objectionable content
Settings has a Suggestions board where you can post an idea or a bug report and vote on other people's posts. That board is the only place in Quits where your words reach people outside your own groups.
We have no tolerance for objectionable content or for abusive users. Do not post anything hateful, harassing, threatening, obscene, discriminatory or illegal; anything that exposes another person's private information; impersonation; spam; or advertising.
How we enforce that:
- An automatic filter checks every new post the moment it is written. A post that matches is hidden, so other people never see it.
- Anyone can report a post. Reporting hides it from you at once and sends it to us for review.
- Anyone can block an author. Blocked authors disappear from your board.
- We act on reports within 24 hours. We may hide or remove content, and we may end a user's access to the board.
- To report content, or to reach a person about it, write to moderation@luxxatlabs.com.
Posting objectionable content, or abusing other users, ends your access to the board.
6. Your content
What you write stays yours. You give us the permission we need to store it and show it to the people you shared it with — the members of your group, anyone holding the group's invite link, and, for a board post, other users of the app — so that the app can do its job. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising. What we hold and why is set out in the Privacy Policy.
7. Fair use
Do not guess invite codes, flood our servers, or try to take the app apart or work around its limits. We count requests and block the ones that look like abuse.
8. The app is provided as it is
We cannot promise the app will always be available, always in sync, or free of mistakes. Sync needs a working network. The app is provided "as is", without warranties beyond the ones the law gives you and that cannot be excluded.
9. Limit of our liability
Quits is a record of numbers people type in. It is not accounting, tax or legal advice, and it does not move money or settle anything for you. To the fullest extent the law allows, Luxxat Labs, IP is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for a disagreement between you and the people you split with. Our total liability for any claim connected with Quits is limited to the amount you actually paid us for the app — which is US$4.99 at most, and nothing at all if you never bought Pro. Nothing here removes a liability that the law says cannot be removed.
10. Changes, and stopping
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and using the app after that means you accept the new version. You can stop at any time by deleting the app. Export your data first — the JSON export of every group is free, always.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
